Emulsifiers are a class of molecules that allow items that don’t ordinarily mix to come together to create an emulsion.

Water-in-oil (w/o) emulsifiers maintain water droplets packed in oil, whereas oil-in-water (o/w) emulsifiers keep oil drops packed in water.

Varied emulsifiers produce emulsions with different textures, even when employing the same kind of emulsifier. What are co-emulsifiers, and what do they do?
The use of a blender and/or the addition of extra emulsifying wax aren’t the only methods for achieving a more stable emulsion. Co-emulsifiers can also be beneficial.
To thicken and stabilize emulsions, co-emulsifiers are frequently employed in combination with emulsifiers. They aren’t usually good emulsifiers on their own and would have to be employed in extremely large volumes to emulsify. Cetearyl alcohol and cetyl alcohol are common co-emulsifiers.
Despite the fact that they are both named “alcohols,” they are not the same as ethanol (the sort of alcohol you consume) or isopropyl alcohol. In cosmetics, both isopropyl alcohol and ethanol can be drying.
