Shower gel, often known as shower cream or body wash, is used to clean the body while taking a shower. Shower gels, which should not be confused with liquid soaps, don’t really contain saponified oil. Instead, it makes use of artificial detergents made from either plant or petroleum sources.

 

Shower gels containWater, betaines, and sodium laureth sulfate, sometimes known as SLS, are the three main components of shower gels. The two products’ surfactants, which are known to reduce surface tension between substances and aid in the emulsification and washing away of greasy filth, are the key distinction between them. Shower gel surfactants are not produced by saponification, which is the reaction of a particular type of oil or fat with lye. Instead, it substitutes synthetic detergents made from either petroleum or plant-based surfactants. Because of this, the substance has a lower pH than soap and may not feel as drying to the skin.  However, others have compared the result to feeling less spotless.

 

Up to 50% of the components in shower gels are surfactants, with the rest water and substances used to thicken, preserve, emulsify, add aroma, and provide color constituting the remainder.  To obtain desirable product attributes, several surfactants are frequently utilized. While a secondary surfactant can contribute properties of mildness to minimize irritation or over-drying of the skin, a main surfactant can offer strong foaming capacity and cleaning performance. Emulsifiers like diethanolamine are added to prevent the components of shower gel from separating.  Additionally, to hydrate the skin both during and after product application, conditioning ingredients may be included.  Additionally, they come in a variety of colors and smells. Ingredients.

  1. Water- 60g
  2. Xanthan gum-1tsp
  3. Glycerin-4tsp
  4. Sodium benzoate-1tsp
  5. Propylene glycol-2tsp
  6. Cocamidopropyl betaine-10g
  7. Citric acid-1g
  8. Sodium lauryl sulfate-15g

 

Procedure

  • Dilute the gum in glycerin for about 20 mins
  • Add propylene glycol,sodium benzoate and citric acud
  • Mix cocamidopropyl betaine and sodium lauryl sulfate
  • Add to the rest of your formulation
  • Stick blend a little
  • Your shower gel is ready
